In late September, the United Nations will ratify new development goals that will shape the global development agenda for the next decade and a half. Ahead of this process, the Pew Research Center in Washington, DC will release findings from a new survey exploring public opinion in Africa on a range of topics related to development, including economic issues, top development priorities, foreign aid, national governments, and the petroleum and mining industries.

In addition to South Africa, the survey included Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda. The research was funded in part by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Dr Richard Wike, the Pew Research Center’s Director of Global Attitudes Research, will present the results of the study, as well as other key findings from public opinion polls in Africa on topics such as perceptions of the United States and China in the region.
