Peace and Security Council Report No 80

Who's in line to replace Dlamini Zuma at the AUC? The May PSC Report looks at the candidates, and also finds out how better borders could prevent conflict.

Last month, the Peace and Security Council discussed the role of de-radicalisation efforts in the fight against terrorism in Africa.

The council also tabled the issue of post-conflict reconstruction and development during an open session in Addis Ababa.

Egypt is increasingly looking south. Its decision to hand over two Red Sea islands is indicative of this new direction.

Elections for a new AU Commission chairperson, deputy chairperson and eight commissioners will be held at the next AU summit in July. Who are the candidates?

The PSC Report asked Ambassador Aguibou Diarrah, Head of the African Union’s Border Programme, how clearer demarcation of borders could prevent conflicts.
