In response to the challenge of forced migration, some countries like South Africa are revising their immigration policies. Others, like Libya, Niger and Tunisia are brokering deals with the European Union to tighten border control and send migrants home. These attempts to manage down migrant numbers come at a time when the African Union is pushing for greater mobility on the continent and reduced regulation.

This View on Africa is presented by Ottilia Anna Maunganidze, Head of Special Projects at ISS. She will discuss these seemingly competing policies and longer term solutions.
