View on Africa: what works to prevent extremism?

A new study of 133 projects in six West and Central African countries offers key insights.

Scores of projects aimed at preventing and countering violent extremism in West and Central Africa are doing important work in tough conditions, but lack long-term funding and hard evidence of how best to confront terrorism.

This View on Africa is presented by Isel van Zyl, ISS Junior Researcher based in Pretoria. She will discuss the findings of a new ISS study into 133 projects in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Mali, Niger and Nigeria.
