The Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC’s) national dialogue process remains stalled with disagreement about its facilitator, Edem Kodjo.

The country’s future hangs in the balance, with no clarity about what will happen come 20 December – the day after President Joseph Kabila’s mandate expires.

Kabila meanwhile has been visiting regional capitals – Uganda in early August and Rwanda for the first time since 2009. Is there now a compromise between these on-off adversaries, and what could be driving it?

This View on Africa is presented by Stephanie Wolters, head of the Peace and Security Research Programme at the ISS. She will analyse the stalemate in the DRC’s national dialogue and discuss the possible motives behind Kabila’s recent regional visits.
