Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari announced that the notorious Sambisa Forest had been cleared of Boko Haram elements in December 2016. While a symbolic victory, suicide attacks, assaults and an inadvertent air strike on a refugee camp in January are painful reminders of the humanitarian crisis still raging in the region.

This View on Africa is presented by Omar S Mahmood, Researcher, ISS Addis Ababa. He will discuss recent developments in the battle against Boko Haram ahead of a major donor conference to address the overlooked situation. He will also discuss the pressing issue of terrorism in Africa.
