Political reform in Ethiopia: assessing the challenges

This seminar examines historical, institutional and political forces that complicate the road to democracy.

The new administration in Ethiopia has made great strides in liberalising the country’s politics since April 2018. Democratic transition is however still far from being achieved. Various challenges prevent the establishment of a stable democratic order. This seminar will examine the weight of historical, institutional and political forces on the country’s road to democracy.
