Migration in focus: adding African voices

With the surge in migration to Europe, public debate has focused on how Europe perceives migration and what it will do to stem the flow.

However, reliable information about the mass movement of migrants and refugees is insufficient, especially when it comes to established migratory routes, the drivers of migration, and African perspectives on migration.

A new evidence base is needed to ensure that policy responses are informed, proactive and effective. This is particularly important for South Africa given the recent release of the Green Paper on Migration.

This seminar explores migration policy from an African point of view. It will unpack the findings of cutting edge research across the continent based on interviews with migrants and smugglers.

This event is co-hosted with the Global Initiative against Transnational Organised Crime.
