Crisis hotspots and the AU agenda

ISS analysts discuss the latest hotspots on the continent, and how the African Union is helping to resolve them.

What are the key crisis hotspots on the continent that are, or should be, on the agenda of the African Union (AU) at its summit this month?

ISS researchers will provide updates and analysis on developments in Burundi, South Sudan, Mali, Nigeria and other situations.

They will discuss what the AU can do to help resolve these crises, what instruments it has, and what it has done so far. The briefing will also address the question of what role South Africa can and should play in these hotspots.

Presenters will give short briefings, followed by a question and answer session.
