Will Magufuli win a second term?

Do all the candidates stand a fair chance in Tanzania’s legislative and presidential elections next month?

Tanzanians go to the polls on 28 October to decide whether to re-elect the incumbent President John Magufuli or take a chance with one of the opposition contenders who have emerged on the scene in the last few weeks.

While Magufuli has been given credit for growing the economy and tackling corruption, his administration has passed many laws that curtail media freedom and other civil liberties. This seminar will discuss the upcoming elections and whether all the candidates stand a fair chance.
