In April 2015, Burundi’s ruling party announced President Pierre Nkurunziza as its candidate for presidential elections – and a third term in power – sparking widespread protests and crackdowns by state security forces. What is driving this continued crisis and what can be done about it?

They will discuss lessons and opportunities for actors such as the African Union and United Nations, as well as civil society and the diplomatic community.
