View on Africa: Zimbabwe’s landmark election

What does Emmerson Mnangagwa’s victory mean for the country’s future?

Zimbabwe’s elections were given a particular edge as the survival of the two main political parties seemed to be at stake. Now that ZANU-PF has emerged triumphant, will President Emmerson Mnangagwa make good on his promise to turn the country’s economy around?

This View on Africa is presented by Derek Matyszak, ISS consultant based in Harare. He will discuss the election results and what they mean for the winners and losers.
