View on Africa: tackling Somali piracy on land and at sea

Is enough being done to address the root causes of piracy in Somalia itself?

International efforts to fight Somali piracy have significantly reduced the threat in the last 10 years. But recent incidents have raised concerns of a possible resurgence, especially since long-term solutions to piracy remain absent.

This View on Africa is presented by Denys Reva, ISS Junior Researcher. He will discuss the sustainability of counter-piracy practices and whether enough is being done to address the root causes within Somalia itself.
