View on Africa: How to close Zimbabwe’s Mugabe chapter?

Tune in for expert analysis on Zimbabwe's future now that the President has stepped down.

Last Sunday ZANU-PF’s Central Committee fired Robert Mugabe as party president. The party gave him until noon on 20 November to step down as state president or face ‘impeachment’ proceedings – an ultimatum Mugabe chose to ignore.

What is the procedure to impeach the president, and is this the only option left for Zimbabwe’s military and presidential contender, Emmerson Mnangagwa?

This View on Africa is presented by Derek Matyszak, an ISS senior research consultant based in Harare. He will discuss latest developments in Zimbabwe’s ongoing leadership crisis.
