Strategic clarity and planning will be vital if the country wants to effect change.

South Africa rejoins the UN Security Council at a time when the Council’s effectiveness is increasingly being questioned. Can the country harness its previous experience and implement its strategy to help make the Council more relevant?

This View on Africa is presented by Gustavo de Carvalho, Senior Researcher, Peace Operations and Peacebuilding. He will discuss findings of a new report on what South Africa can realistically achieve in the Security Council based on current dynamics and expectations.
