Turning Africa’s migration policy into practice

African states should match their commitments on forced migration with effective action.

Africa needs to deal with the problem of forced migration. The challenge is not coming up with new policies and laws; it is putting the ones that already exist into practice.

Africa has many migration policies and frameworks, including those developed by the African Union and the Regional Economic Communities. This seminar will discuss these existing policies and evaluate their implementation.

Having laws in place is one thing; implementation and compliance is another. Continental and regional bodies, and their member states, should meet their commitments on paper with effective action.
