On 19 May, Minister of Police, Firoz Cachalia, spoke in Parliament about a new ‘bold police reset agenda to strengthen the fight against organised and violent crime by building a modern, professional and trusted police service that places the safety of our people first.’

The findings of the Madlanga Commission into criminality, political interference and corruption in the criminal justice system, and the Parliamentary ad hoc committee into related issues, are due in the coming weeks. This event will discuss the key problems highlighted thus far by both inquiries, and what is needed for an effective ‘reset’ of policing.
