South Africa’s future foreign policy priorities

Can the country’s new leadership adjust to future shifts in power and influence?

The choice that the African National Congress (ANC) makes for its next president will have significant implications for South Africa’s foreign policy. Priorities for a post-Zuma presidency range from pursuing regional integration to expanding business relations with India and other important trading and investment partners.

This seminar will launch a new ISS report – Life beyond BRICS? South Africa’s future foreign policy interests. Author of the report, Dr Jakkie Cilliers, will outline likely future shifts in power and influence globally and in Africa, and what these mean for South Africa’s next president.
