Prospects for Africa's current and future stability

This seminar launches the latest ISS paper on Africa's long-term development and security prospects.

Since 2010 Africa has experienced an increase in armed violence, potentially reversing the trend of global reductions in conflict after the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

This seminar will launch the latest ISS paper on the long-term prospects for Africa’s stability.

Co-authors Dr Jakkie Cilliers and Steve Hedden have explored recent trends across the continent and they present three scenarios for the future.

The new paper also assesses the impact of Africa’s development and security prospects on the African Union’s Agenda 2063 initiative.
