Can Africa adapt to future impacts of climate change?

Africa has contributed little to climate change, but is disproportionately vulnerable to its effects.

As the climate warms, human security in Africa will be undermined by hotter temperatures, sea level rise and acidification, increasingly erratic rainfall patterns and more intense storms. To navigate the risks, economic development needs to be harmonised with climate change adaptation strategies.

This seminar will share findings from a new ISS report projecting vulnerability to climate change and adaptive capacity in Africa to 2063. The report will be available at the seminar.
