Book launch: Reflections on two decades of AU performance

Looking back on the challenges confronted by the AU, what is required to ensure the success of Agenda 2063?

Since its inception, the African Union (AU) has dealt with a myriad of issues, ranging from a resurgence of coups to the rise in terrorism, and complex emergencies caused by Ebola and COVID-19. As the AU celebrates 20 years of working for Africa, what progress has been made? Is its legal framework adequate and how can performance be improved to ensure the success of Agenda 2063?

This online event launches a new book by more than 22 African experts on the AU’s achievements, challenges and future prospects.

This event is co-hosted by the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) and the Embassy of Canada in Addis Ababa.

Simultaneous English-French interpretation will be provided.
