Assessing MNJTF's fight against Boko Haram

Despite the challenges it has faced, the MNJTF is slowly gaining ground.

The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) established by the Lake Chad Basin countries to fight Boko Haram is still struggling to demonstrate its effectiveness. Yet the force is gradually gaining ground. Over the past months it has, together with national armies, dealt a blow to the group.

The fight against Boko Haram appears to have entered a new phase, and the time is now right to analyse recent developments and assess the regional response.

The ISS’ West Africa Report that assesses MNJTF’s progress will be launched at the seminar.
