Africa’s route to higher growth depends on manufacturing

Africa can’t leapfrog the manufacturing stage of economic development in favour of growth in the services sector.

Current economic growth trends and Africa’s large and fast-growing population are holding the continent back. New ISS analysis of long-term prospects shows that for Africa to grow fast enough to improve livelihoods it needs to rapidly move labour into more productive sectors, in particular manufacturing.

The latest ISS report on the future of manufacturing in Africa will be available at the seminar.

This event is co-hosted with the Strathmore Business School.
