African Futures – the long view: structural transitions for prosperity

How will transitions in demographics, industrialisation and stability affect livelihoods over the next 20 years?

The ISS analyses Africa’s trajectories for conflict, development and socio-political change and their implications for policy. At this seminar, Dr Jakkie Cilliers will discuss how key transitions in demographics, industrialisation and stability will affect Africa’s current development path over the next 20 years. Implications for poverty, income and livelihoods will be covered.

Dr Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, Chief Executive Officer of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Planning and Co-ordinating Agency, will respond to Dr Cilliers.

Various ISS research reports will be available at the seminar.
