Statement on the Launch of the African Conference of Commandants Web Portal
Â
The new web portal of the African Conference of Commandants (ACoC) is designed
to act as the public ‘face’ for the activities of this body of the general membership
of the military command and staff colleges on the African continent.
Â
The aim of
ACoC is to enhance harmonization, interoperability, commonality, standisation
and cooperation between African Staff Colleges as its contribution to the African
Standby Force (ASF) and Peace and Support Operations (PSOs). The ACoC’s
objectives include contribution to African Security through the Development and
Transformation of Education and Training in the Military Environment and
to the enhancement of co-operation amongst African Staff Colleges
through benchmarking; college curriculum best practice; DS Exchange
programmes; academic accreditation; exploration of the feasibility of an annual
Combined Joint African Exercise (CJAX).
Â
The Security Sector Governance
(SSG) programme at the ISS serves as the current Secretariat to ACoC. The website is hosted and maintained by the ISS.
