Are Africa’s priorities and vision being heard at COP?

Based on COP28 and the need to intensify climate action, this policy brief outlines priorities for African countries at COP29.

Africa’s participation in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP) has evolved significantly since the first meeting in 1995. The continent currently plays a crucial role in initiatives like the Loss and Damage Fund and is launching important voluntary agreements and climate risk assessments. This policy brief makes recommendations on how to advance Africa’s climate agenda and secure positive outcomes for the continent.
