The events that will unfold at the African National Congress’s national elective conference in mid-December will determine South Africa’s economic and development future for at least the next decade. Each post-apartheid president, from FW de Klerk to Jacob Zuma, has set the country off in a new direction and the impact this time around will be no different.

This View on Africa is presented by Jakkie Cilliers, Head of African Futures & Innovation, ISS Pretoria. He will discuss the implications of three scenarios for South Africa – a Cyril Ramaphosa victory, a win for Nkososana Dlamini Zuma and the more likely compromise.

Dr Cilliers is the author of Fate of the Nation – 3 scenarios for South Africa’s future
