Unlocking Africa's maritime economy potential: prospects and challenges

On Africa’s Day of the Seas and Oceans, this seminar highlights the sector’s role in achieving development and prosperity.

Ensuring the sustainable use of ocean resources is essential to Africa's socio-economic development. Although most countries recognise the growth potential of safe shipping, fishing, tourism, shipbuilding and renewable energy, maritime insecurity in and around Africa hinders real progress. This online seminar will mark Africa’s Day of the Seas and Oceans and spotlight the maritime dimensions of African security, development and prosperity.

Simultaneous French-English interpretation will be provided at this event.

This seminar is co-hosted by CEMLAWS and the Institute for Security Studies.
