Turning Africa's climate security risks into opportunities

This event considers the benefits of reframing climate change from an environmental issue to one of development.

Africa’s climate security risks and how they are dealt with will shape the continent’s future. Climate change heightens the threat of conflict and must be analysed alongside political, economic and historical factors that influence risks and define developmental responses. People’s ability to react and adapt to the impacts of climate change must also be considered.

This event covers the multi-dimensional human security risks from climate change in Africa. Speakers will discuss how reframing climate change as a development issue can help turn climate security risks into development opportunities.

This event is co-hosted by the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) and adelphi.
