Tanzania’s repression of dissent under the guise of counter-terrorism

This event launches Intelwatch’s latest report on government crackdowns ahead of general elections in October.

As Tanzania gears up for elections in October, the government has intensified a crackdown on critics, political opposition and civil society, resulting in self-censorship by the media and human rights activists.

This webinar discusses recent findings from an Intelwatch report on Tanzania’s use of repressive laws and security services to stifle political dissent, target the opposition and maintain the dominance of the ruling party.

This event is co-hosted by the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) and Intelwatch.
