Silencing the Guns: achievements, opportunities and challenges

Seven years on, why is Africa still far from realising the commitments made in this important initiative?

Seven years after the launch of the well-intended Silencing the Guns in Africa by 2020 initiative, the impact has been minimal and the continent is still far from realising the commitments made by African leaders.

With 2020 being the final year of the declaration, this seminar reflects on the numerous challenges facing the plan. Achievements made thus far will be discussed along with factors that have hampered progress and considerations on the way forward.

A new ISS monograph on the topic will be launched at the seminar.
