ISS / Southern Africa Trust Joint Public Seminar: An African Union Government: Towards the United States of Africa

The next Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly, to be held in Accra, Ghana in July, 2007, will be devoted to a “Grand Debate on the Union Government.” This joint ISS/Southern Africa Trust public seminar will explore the historical and current context in which this debate is taking place, the envisaged modalities and implications of a United States of Africa, citizen involvement in this process, its bearing on gendered relations, and the imperatives for, and challenges of, moving forward with this ideal.
