Yaoundé, 28-29 April 2008

The Institute of Security Studies (ISS) Office in Addis Ababa will be organising an Expert Roundtable entitled: “The Central Africa Region Security Complex: Policy Options and Recommendations.” The meeting will be convened at the Hotel Mont Febe, Yaoundé, Cameroon from Monday 28th to Tuesday 29th April, 2008.

The principal objective of the meeting is to examine how equipped and prepared is the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) in confronting the security challenges in the Central Africa region.

About 30 African policymakers, UN officials, AU officials, ECCAS officials, scholars, and civil society have been invited to participate in the roundtable.

The ISS Addis Ababa Office will convene this April roundtable as contribution to a broader process of strengthening the African Union conflict prevention strategies and enhancing Regional Economic communities (RECs) as the building blocks of the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA).
