How to stop South Africa’s cash-in-transit syndicates

Insights into the mechanics of these organised crime networks should guide policing responses.

A new book reveals the workings of the highly professional criminal syndicates behind South Africa’s cash-in-transit robberies. Transito: The truth behind the big-money robberies by Dr Hennie Lochner and Peet van Staden provides intriguing insights into how the syndicates are formed, how they select their targets and execute their attacks.

Lochner will outline key findings and their value as a source of actionable crime intelligence to help stop these robberies. He will be in discussion with the head of the specialist police unit tasked with investigating organised crime.

Transito: The truth behind the big-money robberies is published by Unisa Press.
