How after school programmes can prevent violence

The Western Cape’s After School Game Changer shows how good quality programmes stimulate children and ensure their safety.

Providing children with safe, supervised environments where they can acquire social and academic skills is key to preventing violence. Lessons from initiatives such as the After School Game Changer in South Africa’s Western Cape province, and the police-led After School initiatives in the Eden District, show what it takes for these projects to succeed.

This seminar brings together officials who have shaped both programmes, as well as leadership from government and civil society who are involved in efforts to improve the safety of young people.
