Drug use and supply in West Africa: launch of 2023 WENDU report

According to the latest statistics and trends, the increasing involvement of minors in drug use requires urgent intervention.

Each year, the West African Epidemiology Network on Drug Use (WENDU) provides evidence-based insights into emerging trends in regional drug use and treatment across the region.

The 2023 WENDU report analyses drug supply and consumption patterns, and assesses the availability of treatment facilities for persons with substance abuse disorders. While cannabis and alcohol remain dominant, cocaine, heroin, tramadol and new drugs such as Kush are causing a silent drug epidemic in the region.

This event is co-hosted by the ENACT project and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Simultaneous English-French interpretation will be provided.
