Cost of corruption: beyond the money

New research reveals the impact of corruption on vulnerable groups in South Africa.

The cost of corruption in South Africa goes well beyond the billions lost annually. The lives and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities are undermined, especially among vulnerable and marginalised groups such as women and youth.

Experts will discuss research findings into the corruption and harassment faced by sex workers at the hands of police officers. Recent survey results from the Global Corruption Barometer-Africa 2019 – which highlights that 64% of South Africans believe corruption in the country has increased – will also be covered.
