Can the Ukraine conflict build bridges between Africa and Europe?

The conflict threatens gains made between the AU and EU, but constructive relations could be re-established.

The war in Ukraine is testing relations between Africa and Europe. Although the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) favour strong collaboration, their differing views and actions on Ukraine threaten to jeopardise relations between the two blocs.

This seminar focuses on how the current situation has arisen, what ideal AU-EU relations could look like, and how to develop a constructive, mutually beneficial relationship between the parties.

This seminar is co-hosted by the Institute for Security Studies, Amani Africa, the Institute for Peace and Security Studies, and the European Center for Development Policy Management.
