Boeremag on trial: how an investigation ended right-wing terrorism in SA

Join us to discuss a new book on how South Africa’s Boeremag trial disrupted the most sophisticated terrorist plot of its time.

Terrorism destabilised post-apartheid South Africa, raising fears that it could spark civil war. The most serious threat came from the far-right Boeremag, a white supremacist group behind highly sophisticated terror plots.

The Boeremag aimed to topple the newly elected democratic government and purge the country of black South Africans. The plot collapsed due to a meticulous investigation and a long, complex prosecution spanning more than a decade. These events are detailed in Karin Mitchell’s new book, The High Treason Club: The Boeremag on Trial.
