Africa and global cyberdiplomacy: priorities for action

As the global cyberdiplomacy space becomes increasingly contested, African states risk falling behind.

The growing need for more responsible state behavior in cyberspace provides opportunities and challenges for Africa. As cyber diplomats prepare for the UN's Ad Hoc Committee on International Cybercrimes treaty in January 2022, how can African countries make their mark and avoid being sidelined?

Speakers at this seminar will talk about how to grow continental champions and articulate common positions on security, surveillance, data sovereignty and access to Africa. The role of regional organisations in communicating common positions will also be discussed.
