Challenges to Public Participation in South Africa's Parliament

As a platform for public participation, Parliament should lead the way in taking forward the concept of public participation with more rigour in 2011. At present the institutionÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s efforts appear to have stagnated. This despite specific initiatives and programmes designed to ensure that Parliament facilitates public involvement in all its functions in order to best represent the people of South Africa, as enshrined in the Constitution.
