ISS Awarded Top 300 Empowerment Company 2004-2005

Press Release: ISS Awarded Top 300 Empowerment Company 2004-2005

In January 2004, President Thabo Mbeki signed into the law the Black Economic Empowerment Act, emphasising the Government`s commitment to the transformation of South African business and industry, and ensuring that Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) becomes a business imperative in this country.

For the second year running, the ISS has been nominated as one of South Africa`s top empowerment companies in the business sector for 2004/05 as a result of its contribution to the growth of the economy, job creation and transformation. The award was made by Impumelelo Innovations Award Trust.

The inclusion of the ISS in this accurate and comprehensive annual publication follows research of over 9 000 of South Africa`s leading companies, municipalities, government departments, institutions, agencies and other organisations in 150 sectors of the economy. Each organisation is subjected to extensive analysis by an inhouse research team according to a set of strict entry criteria, which take into account the latest legislation as well as the Department of Trade and Industry`s BEE Scorecard contained in its Strategy for Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment.
