Rocklyn Williams

Rocklyn ‘Rocky’ Williams worked at ISS Pretoria from 1999 to 2002 as head of the Security Sector Transformation Programme. His work in this field in Africa was pioneering, and culminated in the publication of his book Ourselves to know – a study of civil-military relations and defence transformation in Southern Africa. Rocky was highly regarded at ISS and beyond for his outstanding work on security sector transformation. He played a key role in laying the foundation for further work at ISS in this sector.

Rocky passed away in 2005.
