Khehla Ntuli

Khehla Ntuli

Khehla Ntuli was one of our longest-serving staff members and a pillar of the ISS. He joined in 1999 when the head office moved to Pretoria, and the institute started expanding rapidly. As the driver and office assistant, Khehla thrived in the busy environment, working tirelessly behind the scenes.

His willingness to learn and quiet efficiency saw him appointed as the information and publications assistant in 2003. In 2013, his role was further expanded when he became programme administrator in the Communication department.

The ISS was Khehla’s second home. He liked to be on the move and balanced his day to allow for deliveries, sorting publications stock and time behind his desk. From his base in Pretoria, Khehla could be relied on to ensure ISS products reached conference tables and dignitaries’ desks across Africa. His deep commitment to the organisation was evident in his proactive, determined work ethic.

Khehla was a man of few words, but he was a straight talker who spoke freely on issues he thought were important. He brought a calm, unassuming professionalism to everything he did and helped many new staff settle into life in Pretoria. He is remembered by colleagues as a friendly, steady hand who will be deeply missed.

Khehla passed away on 17 June 2021.
