ISS Programme Administrator, based in Yaounde, Cameroon

The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) seeks an energetic and efficient administrator for the Central Africa Observatory Project based in Yaounde. The project is a partnership between the ISS and the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC).

 

The position involves providing general administrative and financial support that includes helping to organise training courses, arranging staff travel and organising events. The successful candidate will report to the Project Coordinator.

 

Overview of duties

  • Handle logistical arrangements for events and staff travel
  • Travel to programme events to assist with preparations and logistics
  • Prepare event budgets, monitor expenses and do reconciliations
  • Process and track financial transactions
  • Provide general administration support including organising internal meetings, service provider liaison, booking services and filing
  • Help maintain consultant and stakeholder databases, and upload M&E reports


Overview of requirements

  • A diploma in business administration, secretarial studies/office administration
  • At least five years of experience in financial and programme administration
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills; working knowledge of French is desirable
  • Skilled in organising and providing attention to detail
  • Budgeting and financial administration skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, multi-task and problem solve
  • Strong people skills and a professional approach
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of people
  • Proven competence in MS Office and excellent knowledge Word, Powerpoint, Excel
  • Available to travel regionally and internationally

The contract will be for 2 years and may be renewed subject to funding and satisfactory performance.
