ISS Concludes MOU with COMESA

 

On 30 June 2004, the ISS will conclude a Memorandum of Understanding with the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA). The MOU was signed by Dr Jakkie Cilliers, Executive Director of the ISS and Mr Erastus JO Mwencha, Secretary General of COMESA. The memorandum provides for institutional cooperation in matters relating to the promotion of peace and security through conflict prevention, peace building and other related issues.

 

The formalisation of the ISS`s regional cooperation initiatives also includes MOU`s with the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (December 2003) and the Economic Community of Central African States (February 2003).
