18 Jun 2003: Launch of the Defence Sector Programme and Seminar on the Political Transition in the DRC DEFENCE SECTOR PROGRAMME Research Areas & Projects Launch of the Defence Sector Programme, 18 June 2003 The Defence Sector Programme (DSP) held its public launch at the Centurion Lake Hotel on Wednesday 18 June 2003. The object of the launch was to introduce the programme to national and regional defence establishment as well as to civil society and the media. 35 Guests attended. They were mostly from the South African Department of Defence and the diplomatic corps. Members of the South African Department of Foreign Affairs, NGOs, the Media and the programme donor, DFID, also attended. The DSP launch presentation was given by the programme head Len Le Roux. The launch was combined with a seminar on ‘The Political Transition in the DRC’. (View the programme in PDF). The papers delivered at this seminar will be published in ISS Publications.
