ISS Seminar: Double Political Assassination in Guinea Bissau: What Does the Future Hold?
Pretoria, 10 March 2009

Presented by the African Security Analysis Programme (ASAP)

Guinea Bissau woke up to the news of the double political assassinations of President Bernado Nino Viera and the Army Chief of Staff General Batista Tagme Na Waie. While the country was experiencing serious challenges in its peace building process, it is feared that these recent developments would compromise the fragile gains achieved so far.

This seminar aims to unpack the political dynamics behind the chronic political instability in Guinea Bissau and finds out what does the future hold for that country.
