Peace and Security Council Report No 48

This month our researchers in Dakar, Pretoria and Addis Ababa produced country analyses on Guinea, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). The previous analyses on Guinea, the DRC and the LRA can be viewed in the December 2010, January 2013 and March 2013 editions of the PSC Report, respectively.

The country analysis on the Republic of Guinea focuses on the election-related violence and civil unrest in the lead-up to elections in that country.

The country analysis on the DRC looks at African and international efforts to bring peace and stability to the eastern part of the country, particularly through the activities of the International Brigade.

The security analysis on the Lord’s Resistance Army focuses on the Regional Cooperation Initiative (RCI) and the AU Commission Chairperson’s report detailing efforts to operationalize the RCI, as well as the efforts by AU, UN and other actors to eliminate the LRA scourge.
