Peace and Security Council Report No 19

The latest volume of the ISS PSC Report includes four country analysis and an open page piece.

The ongoing popular uprising that spread to other parts of the North Africa and the Arab world notably to Egypt is the major topic of this volume. The analysis tries to understand the possible effect of the so called `Jasmine Revolution` to other countries in Africa and beyond.

The ongoing stalemate that followed the disputed presidential election in Cote d`Ivoire is the other focus of the report in light of possible options to resolve the crisis.

The referendum in southern Sudan that is likely to create a new African state is also covered with a focus to analyze the journey from secession to independence.

The longest running territorial dispute in Africa, the Western Sahara crisis is also discussed in the context of the recent violence in the territory and the unfruitful ongoing talks.

Shared Values, which was the theme of the 16th AU summit that was held at the end of last month in Addis Ababa is also part of the Report.
